28 youth sector leaders revealed as participants in Clore Social Leadership's 2018 Emerging Leader Youth Programme

29 youth sector leaders revealed as participants in our 2018 Emerging Leader Youth Programme

Twenty-nine leaders from youth sector charities across the UK are set to participate in our Emerging Leader Youth Programme that kicks off later this month. Funded by the Bank of America Merrill Lynch and the Big Lottery Fund using National Lottery funding, the 2018 programme builds on the success of last year’s pilot and will see a 30% increase in participant numbers.

The immersive, six-month leadership programme was developed in collaboration with a group of youth charities who recognised that strong leadership is pivotal for the success of their organisations and the wider sector. The programme helps to meet these demands by cultivating a pipeline of resilient and talented leaders who are equipped with leadership skills and networking opportunities to drive the sector forward.

Bank of America Merrill Lynch have funded a number of youth organisations in acknowledgement of this leadership requirement.

Dawn Austwick, Chief Executive at the Big Lottery Fund said, ‘Bringing on the next generation of young leaders is fundamental as it ensures civil society continues to thrive. The programme is an important step towards creating a generous and accessible approach to our future leaders.’

This programme has applied learning at its heart. Participants will work in teams to complete real-life leadership challenges which they must deliver on the programme, bringing their adaptive learnings back to their respective organisations. Last year, one of the teams devised a New to Management project which is now being piloted as a potential programme offer for the sector.

Fiona Ellison, Fund Development Manager at the Big Lottery Fund and 2017 Emerging Leader Youth Fellow commented, ‘This programme provided me with a brilliant opportunity to rethink the way I work and the leadership opportunities and challenges I was facing. It gave me the chance to collaborate with some of the brightest minds from my sector and I feel I have become a confident leader as a result.’
