Melodie is the Chief Executive of PEEK, Possibilities for Each and Every Kid. Prior to setting up PEEK, Melodie has spent most of her life involved in young people’s work through volunteering, facilitation and leading in a number of third sector organisations with a focus on health and wellbeing, outdoor play, youth people taking the lead and the arts.
Developing, leading and believing in people have always underpinned Melodies practice. In 2000 she began working in Glasgow’s East End alongside local youngsters, to establish programmes of activities around their needs and wants. Sixteen years on, PEEK has become an award winning charity working with thousands of youngsters across Glasgow, offering opportunities to improve their lives as they Play, Create and Thrive. Ensuring her passion and experience for Article 31-the child’s right to play, Melodie has contributed to a number of key policy developments within the sector working alongside a number of third, public and private sector partners. In 2013 Melodie was crowned the Herald Society’s unsung hero of the year.
In her spare time Melodie is a trustee of Youth Scotland and ACOSVO. She is also part of the Common Purpose UK Alumni and a member of the RankNet planning group. Melodie is married and has a young daughter.
