Putting the Place into place based health
By Sue Brown , January 2017
Sue Brown has worked for many years in social care policy and has seen an increasing emphasis on engagement with people and communities and the application of asset based community development. In her Provocation Piece, she was interested to see if these ideas were being reflected in the development of Sustainability and Transformation Plans (STPs), place-based plans for the future of the NHS.
She argues that engagement with citizens and communities is key to delivering the prevention and improvement in health and wellbeing, and she looks at the barriers to citizen engagement as well as some of the solutions.
