Year of Fellowship: 2012
Aftab has extensive experience in social enterprise and has particular interest in the application of financial and technological instruments to create social impact. Over the last 7 years he has worked at the Stone Soup Project CIC on a range of Social Enterprise initiatives in Education, Employment, Social Care and Technology.
In Spring 2014 he was appointed as Executive Director at Caldecott Fostering - an Independent fostering agency he co-founded in 2011 when he was the Chief Operating Officer at the Stone Soup Project. In that role he also co-founded the Stone Soup Academy - one of the country's first Alternative Provision Free Schools and recently rated Outstanding by Ofsted.
Aftab is currently Chair of Governors for the Academy and this role along with his work in Fostering has seen him return to a focus on work with Young People. The Clore Social Fellowship came at the perfect time for Aftab and helped him make the transition into senior and board level roles with a clearer focus on his skill set and understanding of the leadership challenges facing the organisations he works with.
