Athol is the Chief Executive of Groundswell - a charity that delivers innovative projects which put homeless people at the heart of solutions to homelessness: focusing on client involvement, peer research and health. Their main project is Homeless Health Peer Advocacy - which supports homeless people to attend health appointments, delivered by volunteers with personal experience of homelessness.
Athol has worked with Groundswell since 2003, taking on the role of Chief Executive in 2006. His previous employers include Cardboard Citizens, Amnesty International UK and National Homeless Alliance. Athol is a fellow of the School for Social Entrepreneurs and of the Ariane de Rothschild Fellowship in Social Enterprise and Cross-Cultural Dialogue.
