How else has your leadership been having an impact on those you work with?

This quarter I participated in the LBS Social Entrepreneurship programme, which I found extremely useful both in terms of gaining new knowledge and understanding of the social enterprise sector but also in helping to shape my research project.  Part of the programme was to undertake a piece of project work and I used the opportunity to work with Clore colleagues from 2013 to undertake a review of the Time to Shine Internship Programme that I operate at work.  In this context my leadership has had an impact on presenting a tangible, current and relevant project to the Clore team (of three!) but the exercise and its outcomes has also influenced those with whom I work, by proposing key recommendations for the future of the Time to Shine programme.

 In what way are you a better leader now than at the start of the Fellowship?

This is more perspective-based rather than factual but I would say that I am more confident in my leadership role.  I feel I have more to offer other colleagues in terms of helping or guiding them in their chosen work.  Interestingly, I think I have also become more tolerant of events that present challenges to me, although this has been a conscious effort on my behalf (and it is working!).

And what have you learnt from your fellow Fellows?

 Don’t rush leadership – it’s here for the long term.There are different ways to do things.  I would not have thought of ‘holding back’ some of the coaching budget had it not been for a colleague who has used some to participate in one to one personal development coaching.  Finding out about things like this are critical at the early stages of the Fellowship before everything is committed.

 How would you describe the CSLP experience so far?

The CSLP experience brings the potential social sector leader to the attention of themselves, their peers and the wider public.
