Type of Fellowship: General
Year of Fellowship: 2012
Update Spring 2013
How was this period of your Fellowship been?
Things have moved on for me significantly this quarter. I have been on my secondment with the Leadership Trust Foundation, working with them on the strategy and marketing communications for their charitable work. While with them, I have had the opportunity to take one of their courses in leadership and management, which was a very worthwhile experience.
I have also started to publicise my planned research project – I am hoping to run a pilot weekend in July bringing together leaders from youth organisations to connect and reflect on their own practice and the opportunities to work more closely together.
The action learning set in February was also a powerful experience, turning my perspective around on several fronts. I am now thinking about my time and skills in a more business like way I think.
What has been your greatest challenge?
As always, finding time to devote to all the things I want to pursue, alongside family life.
In what way you are a better leader now than at the start of the Fellowship?
I have a clearer focus on what I want to do. I am more committed to one direction than I was when I started the programme
What have learnt so far during the Fellowship programme?
That my impact on others is significant and that I should use it with care.
What opportunites/support/skills/inspiration/lessons have you received from other Fellows?
Action learning has helped me not to be afraid to put myself forward, be decisive, and to charge more for my work. Also I have received funding for my research project which was influenced by one of my fellow Fellows.
How would you describe the CSLP experience so far?
With Clore support, things are becoming possible that before were just a fantasy
