Type of Fellowship: Specialist
Year of Fellowship: 2011
The RNIB Fellowship for a registered blind or partially sighted individual.
Update October 2012
My last three months have been dominated by the start of my new post at the University of the Arts London. I began as Operations Manager for the Disability Service at the University on 30 July. For me, this new post represents the culmination of the confidence, experience and personal insight I have gained during the Clore Social Leadership Programme.
Over the last two months, I have had the opportunity to put some of the many skills I have learned through my training as an Action Learning Facilitator and the Common Purpose Navigator course into practice with my new team.
My Research, looking at the positive strategies secondary schools have employed to ensure that disabled pupils are as independent and resilient as possible, is also now well under way with five schools on board and interviews continuing during early October. I aim to complete by mid-November.
Meanwhile, I am looking forward to a final coaching session and Relational Dynamics training in October and the wind down to the end of my active Fellowship period. I have also recently found a mentor with whom I will be working towards widening my participation in social sector organisations, with an emphasis upon the disability sector.
