Type of Fellowship: General
Year of Fellowship: 2013
Update Autumn 2013
How has this quarter been for you?
The September Residential was incredibly helpful in many ways, including developing Business Modeling and Appreciative Enquiry skills to bring back to my workplace. My coaching and mentoring has been hugely helpful in finessing my leadership approach, developing my self-awareness further and planning for my life change in becoming a working Mum in spring next year. And the Programme’s support of me attending the Conservative Party Conference this month has enabled me to try out my external role as a Clore Social ambassador and build my standing as a leader in my field.
In what way you are a better leader now than at the start of the Fellowship?
I have continued my development of my self-awareness and have broken some odd old habits that are not helpful to my performance – my coaching and mentoring have been hugely helpful in this area.
Tell us a lesson you’ve learnt so far during the Fellowship programme
You don’t need to know everything – just keep up! Learn the importance of pessimism, have courage to continually take tough decisions, and listen to your gut – it’s an absolutely fine thing to do. Also I’ve learned that no solutions can be applied to someone else – a plan needs to be for the individual.
Any other tips?
Create mental pictures of your values to keep them with you at all times.
Tell us something we don’t know about Clore Social
It has broadened my horizons to the social sector which has been hugely welcomed. I am truly part of a movement of social leaders who together will make a difference and have impact for good.
