Type of Fellowship: General
Year of Fellowship: 2014
How have the last few month been, Daniela? it sounds like your organisation has been benefitting a lot from your Fellowship...
I have been consumed by my new role at the Skoll Centre, but fortunately have been able to integrate some of my findings from my research into my work here. I launched "Apprenticing with a Problem" funding at the Centre as well as movement towards a new "Solutions Mapping Competition" we're launching in September.
I have brought a weekly morning standing meeting into the group, which has now stuck and I think has added a lot of value. I am also really interested in the futures work we covered at one of our residentials, and how we integrate that into the Skoll Centre’s planning.
In what way you are a better leader now than at the start of the Fellowship?
I feel more calm, like I am taking bigger breaths and more time before I react. I still have a long way to go before fully embodying ‘calm’ but I hope I'm broadly less Tasmanian devil!
Tell us about an important lesson you’ve learnt so far.
It's lovely when all of the tools we've been testing out during the Fellowship get called upon in our day to day lives and we can more effortlessly use them - sometimes without even realising we're doing it.
I've also learned to enjoy research. I might even pursue a PhD some day because of this. We'll see!
