Type of Fellowship: General
Year of Fellowship: 2013
Update Spring 2014
How is your Fellowship going?
My focus this quarter has primarily been work-related. I have been managing the handover of the leadership of Survivors Fund (SURF) to my successor, but with an eye on developing my Fellowship plans for the year ahead.
What has been your greatest challenge?
This quarter the greatest challenge has been committing sufficient time to the Fellowship in light of work commitments. It is also important to ensure that I have given myself space to determine how best to utilize the rest of the programme for the most benefit.
How has your leadership had an impact on those you work with?
Through managing the leadership transition at SURF I have been able to ensure that it has been as seamless as possible, and that the staff, partners, donors and trustees all retain confidence in the work of the organisation .
In what way you are a better leader now than at the start of the Fellowship?
I am more aware of the requirements of what is required for good leadership, which has helped in managing the leadership transition which we have undertaken this quarter.
Tell us an important lesson you’ve learnt so far
I have understood the importance of developing a more inclusive style of leadership so that all stakeholders have a sense of ownership in the future of the organisation.
Tell us something we don't know about Clore Social
Clore Social not only presents a great opportunity to access resources to develop your leadership, but also a unique network of likeminded peers who offer support and guidance to help you on your leadership journey.
