Type of Fellowship: General
Year of Fellowship: 2013
Emily is Executive Director at Think Ahead – a new fast track programme to develop future leaders within the mental health social work profession. Emily is leading the start-up phase of Think Ahead – ensuring that there are effective systems in place in advance of the programme launch in 2016.
Prior to this Emily was at the NSPCC’s Strategy Unit helping to shape their priorities for the next ten-year. Emily has also held a variety of roles at VSO, including Head of Volunteering and leading VSO's youth programmes.
Emily is experienced at leading transformational change programmes. During her time at VSO she delivered over £700,000 of cost savings and managed several large re-organisations. She believes that change should not come at the expense of staff engagement and is proud that VSO staff feedback scores improved across all areas under her leadership.
Organisational planning is another of Emily's strength s and she has established, and then monitored, performance indicators which really focus energy behind the organisation's core mission.
Emily has been a Trustee for Tenteleni, a voluntary run student volunteering charity, and for Student Action for Refugees (STAR). She has also been a front line volunteer for VSO, spending nearly three years working as a gender violence campaigner in rural South Africa.
