Gareth Dix is currently lead on health and wellbeing for Tempus Leisure trust, one of the largest leisure charity operations in the south west. Alongside this Gareth is founder and board member of Exhale, a charity and social enterprise working to address health poverty through projects such as, 'keep it in the family', 'intentional health', and church based wellbeing centre 'the exchange'.
Gareth has worked as a senior public health practitioner in NHS on obesity agendas and within local authorities in community development and as advisor to the National Institute of Clinical Excellence. Gareth also consults on 'leading well', specialising on wholeness in the workplace, focussing recently on education sector. In 2008 Gareth won the prestigious UK local government (LGC) Award for innovation services to community health with his work featuring in Society Guardian, and in 2010 Gareth presented questions to a ministerial cabinet including the Prime Minister on health inequality. He has been a speaker at a range of national conferences on community health, wholeness, innovation and sport.
Gareth is also a musician, he is the writer of 'Breathing People' by The Claze, a contemporary album of songs reflecting local society, which he performed live on BBC Radio 2 in 2013 and 2014. Gareth was presented with the Douglas Macmillan award for services to Macmillan Cancer support in London, 2014, for the song 'Tulips and Coffee' which hit over 1 million Twitter accounts around the world. In September 2014 Gareth became the 'voice over' for the animated sections of the Intentional Health well being programme.
Gareth is a Director of Healthwatch in Cornwall and trusted associate of Jamie Oliver's Fifteen where he co-designed the 'If I can cook' project. He holds a degree in sport and exercise and a master's in European resource management. Living in south-west, he is a keen surfer.
