Half way through the fellowship already! The last period has been one of significant personal growth where I’ve gained clarity of purpose for the future and with it a deeper confidence. A huge amount of learning and development has taken place and rather than strands of things I’d like to improve floating around me I’m feeling more integrated and natural in my skin than before – the strengthometer is ticking upwards. This has been achieved through coaching, mentoring and the opportunity of practical leadership experiences with London Youth and Rushanara Ali MP.
As a result I have gained a greater honesty with myself and the ability to more clearly put my values into action. On applying to the Fellowship I communicated myself as an “enabling and collaborative leader.” I feel I can now begin to deliver on this for the longer term with both a fuller understanding and practical feel for what this looks like. I’m also able to stretch my assertiveness when required and have seen a deeper calmness develop.
Next steps include working on an explicit vision of how I want to contribute to the sector and ultimately society. I will be undertaking my secondment with Deloitte’s Education team from January through to March and my research focusing on education and cooperation between the school system and social sector is taking shape.
