Update October 2012

I completed my challenging secondment at Deloitte's Education Consultancy mid July. This saw me work there from mid April to mid July four days a week on a high commercial project with the private equity backed education company, The Study Group to deliver an "Efficiency for Growth" project and also to work with Teach First to investigate their next ten year strategy with their corporate supporters. This led to a launch of the work at last week's Teach First conference and a structured way forward for Teach First to sustain their corporate involvement. The secondment provided an interesting and challenging insight to corporate culture and practice.

From mid-July to mid-August I headed away on holiday and to undertake the first part of my research write up. This has seen me produce four in-depth case studies recording the efforts of different school types and practices within them to develop their organisations as civic institutions. These case studies were presented at the IPPR on 4 October 2012; a final report will be written for December.

I have now started a full-time job at Pearson UK working on investigating the issue of work experience in the education system. Evenings and weekends have been allocated to my research to ensure I complete all elements by our final December deadline.
