Jane is Senior Research Fellow at Staffordshire University where she provides expertise on addiction, recovery & education in the RECOVEU participative curriculum project. She is also a Lecturer and Supervision in Addiction & Research. She started her career in social care over 20 years ago as a volunteer and more recently as Interim Director of Services through the decommissioning and transfer of a national charity.
Jane has worked in the homeless sector in both residential and community services. She specialised in working with people experiencing difficulties with drugs and alcohol and held roles across a range of addiction services whilst developing a career in education working full time in the Further Education and Higher Education sector for 12 years.
During her career Jane has encountered increasing numbers of ex-service personnel and developed an interest in supporting successful transition into civilian life using integrated support services that enable people to learn from each other's experiences. She continues to teach part time, specialising in Research Methods and Addiction, and is a Senior Research Fellow on the RECOVEU project where she is developing her Doctoral research into Addiction Recovery and Adult Education., which she completed in 2012.
Jane wants to consolidate her learning and develop her leadership skills. She is passionate about listening to people who use social support services and embedding this user voice into the evidence base for services and designing them 'with' beneficiaries not 'for' them.
