Type of Fellowship: Specialist
Year of Fellowship: 2010
Specialist Fellowship funded by Office of the Third Sector
Update March 2010
Prior to this Fellowship, I had not undertaken any real skills development outside of my organisation for the past five years. Three months into the Fellowship and there’s already been an impact on my leadership skills and practices. I’ve attended a residential packed with learning and benefitted from the experience and support of the other Fellows. I decided to begin my coaching quite early in the Fellowship and I’ve found it crucial to identify strengths and areas for development.
Coaching has helped me to define the things I am committed to as a social entrepreneur and my leadership goals.
My research will focus on identifying solutions for socially excluded young people and my secondment will enable me to gain experience in increasing the quality and scale the work we currently do as well as providing me with an insight into policy making.
The Fellowship has also provided me with many opportunities to attend many events and network with other professionals across the sector. I always knew I needed to spend more time outside my office and the Fellowship provides a framework for this.
Overall, I am in a learning mode and this translates also to the organisation that I lead.
