Type of Fellowship: Specialist
Year of Fellowship: 2010
Specialist Fellowship funded by Office of the Third Sector
Update August 2010
I have experienced so much development and learning since my Fellowship began in January 2010. The first thing I sorted out after the residential in January was my coaching, which I’ve found really useful in helping me to explore my personal leadership style, strengths and barriers.
I’ve attended a variety of conferences and workshops, including sessions on funding, leadership and NEET strategies.
I’ve also recently confirmed my official mentor, Sonita Alleyne who will be working with me on enterprise and growth. I have also developed a mentoring relationship with Helen Baker who I met when I facilitated a session for Charity Works in May; Helen will help me with strategic thinking and working in the third sector.
I am currently finalising details for my secondment with the Aldridge Foundation – I hope to be working with them on a new academy in Brighton, from September.
My research approach still needs to be confirmed, but I know that it will focus on solutions for youth social exclusion.
The greatest things about the Clore Social Leadership Programme so far are that the Fellowship provides the space and resources for development which would otherwise be sidelined. There’s also the benefit of learning from the other Fellows who are a brilliant and supportive group of people.
