Type of Fellowship: Specialist
Year of Fellowship: 2010
Update March 2011
It's been a hectic second half to my Fellowship. My secondment developed into a longer term engagement with NESTA setting up and running the Big Society Finance Fund as a prototype of the Big Society Bank. The work was heavily referenced in the Government's strategy paper Growing the Social Investment Market: A vision and strategy and I spoke about the project at the launch of the strategy with Ministers Nick Hurd and Francis Maude. I'm now finishing off the project and it will be wrapped up by early April with a final event.
My research, with New Philanthropy Capital, was published in early February in a report called Impact Networks. It calls for charities and funders to recognise the importance of 'impact networks' – the network of small and large organisations and individuals that deliver a range of activities critical to delivering positive outcomes for people. There was good press coverage on the report, particularly around its implications for charities facing cuts in funding.
I'm all but finished on the practical parts of my Fellowship, but will be attending a final training course at Roffey Park in May. Time to turn my attention to what next...?
