Type of Fellowship: Specialist
Year of Fellowship: 2010
RNIB-funded Fellowship for a registered blind or partially sighted individual
Update March 2010
My Clore Social Fellowship to date has been interesting and thought provoking, and it's set to become challenging and potentially provocative in the months to come.
I elected to do my Fellowship full-time, in a year, because I have the time available and I wanted to be able to move on to any opportunities which presented themselves as soon as possible.
My research project has helped me to clarify some of my thinking and to book training that will help me fill gaps in my knowledge and could enhance my skills for the future.
I am doing a piece of research on whether difficulties in accessing complex data is a barrier to blind and partially sighted people gaining senior positions in the third sector and in society as a whole.
I am hoping that I will be able to get a secondment with one of the Welsh voluntary sector bodies, and I'm looking forward to my first training course on project management which starts in late April.
It has been great to get to know the other Fellows and discuss their very different perspectives. I have enjoyed taking part in Action Learning enough to want to train as an Action Learning facilitator myself.
This Fellowship is opening up new avenues and possibilities and I am thoroughly enjoying it.
