Marie Mumby is a Post Award Faculty Coordinator at Northumbria University. She is also working with Newcastle University Business School to set up a North East Network for Leaders of Social Change - launching in November 2014. This network will offer support and opportunities for leaders to nurture collaboration, understand and shape social policy as well as develop effective organisations for change.
Marie was formerly Training, Operations & Marketing Manager at NECA Training Ltd. NECA promotes the prevention, recognition and treatment associated to use and misuse of substances including alcohol, drugs and gambling. Prior to this she was Chief Operating Officer for youth charity Keyfund, an organisation based in the North East, delivering services to 1,000 volunteer facilitators who in turn support over 6,000 young people in the design, development and delivery of more than 990 youth-led projects every year.
As a young person, Marie took part in a personal development programme with national youth charity Weston Spirit. This experience positively changed her life, opening her eyes to opportunities and experiences she had never dared to aspire to before. She then wanted to be able to offer others life-changing opportunities so Marie began her career as a youth worker, organising major events such as 'Young People a Force for Change' which was a catalyst for young people to have a voice and an impact on their communities. Realising that there was so much more that could be done in the sector she moved into operational and project management.
