Omar is Director at the Runnymede Trust, the UK's leading independent race equality think tank.
Omar’s commitment to social justice and race equality is personal, intellectual and professional. His parents were both immigrants to the United States, leaving from Ireland and Pakistan respectively to seek a better life.
Omar completed a doctorate in political theory, but then took a conscious decision not to stay in academia, knowing he wanted to work with others and to increase his breadth. His ambition is to combine his personal commitment and intellectual training with the practical thinking and leadership skills gained at Runnymede to help eliminate racial disadvantage in the UK and Europe.
