Type of Fellowship: General
Year of Fellowship: 2010
Update March 2010
I was delighted to be appointed a 2010 Clore Social Fellow. The Programme seemed to offer flexible, personalised support, reflecting a deeper set of common sector values. How often does one hear talk about the miserable failings of a ‘one size fits all’ approach to working with people? At last here is a voluntary sector-training Programme that seems to be getting ‘it’ and applying ‘it’.
The first part of the Programme is very much focused on self-awareness as a leader, and this is helpfully underpinned by the comprehensive 360-degree feedback exercise. The results of this feedback have helped determine my Leadership Development Plan and my choices over how to allocate my learning resources. This theme was progressed at our January residential.
I am now in the process of interviewing potential coaches and mentors, finalising my research project and sorting out my secondment. I am also enjoying my Action Learning Set.
The best thing about the Programme to date is the people I have met, especially the other Fellows. I have met some amazing, insightful, challenging and supportive people who are passionate about social justice and the sector. It reminds me why I got into this job in the first place!
