The past few months have been very challenging and I am reminded of one of the Programme’s core leadership values: emotional resilience. I have lost two potential secondment opportunities and a potential mentor, all of which has cost me valuable time and energy. With a demanding yet exciting new job, I am in all honesty beginning to worry about how little time I have left to fulfil my ambitions for the Fellowship!
Nevertheless, there have been a huge number of opportunities for personal reflection, development and growth. I now have a fantastic coach with whom I am working on my personal leadership development plan. I have attended a number of learning events and have often been plied with wisdom, support and positive encouragement from many of my peer Fellows.
My primary measure of value for the Fellowship has always been “will the Fellowship get me to places I wouldn’t have got to on my own?” At this stage, whilst my destination is still unclear, the route is certainly one I would never have predicted. And there is something to be said for getting off the beaten track!
