Type of Fellowship: General
Year of Fellowship: 2012
Update April 2012
Simply having time, resources and guidance with which to pursue ones own personal and professional development framework has been extremely helpful. I have felt extremely well supported by the Clore Social team and have been very impressed both by their open mindedness to my suggestions and clear guidance.
My current focus is three fold:
For my research and secondment, I plan to focus on accelerating and scaling the social contribution of the ICT sector to the ‘Social Tech City’ project in east London. So far over 20 interviews have been undertaken and a steering group to oversee the project has met. A workshop is being planned for Silicon Valley in late May and a report will be launched as part of the Olympic Legacy in the autumn. The current focus is very much on the tech companies themselves and how they can be supported to accelerate and scale their social contribution.
Through regular coaching and some intensive training, I am working on developing a more grounded and considered approach to leadership. An approach which remains both simultaneously focussed on specific goals whilst being open to opportunities. It is also a focus to ensure that my energy is invested as effectively as possible.
Although I am an experienced public speaker, facilitator and writer I have yet to bring these largely disparate activities together into something more coherent and higher impact. This area of focus is as yet under developed, but it has become clear that it will be a vital area for further development through the Fellowship.
The main challenge for me is to ensure that I am prioritising the ‘special’ activities that will be hard to pursue outside the Clore support.
