Type of Fellowship: General
Year of Fellowship: 2010
Update August 2010
A world of opportunities has opened up since I joined the Clore Social Leadership Programme. My expectations of a leadership programme have shifted as we work on our strengths and our values – what makes us who we are. This has made for a calm, confident and more well-rounded Rowena! I could not have grown so much in years of formal, structured learning.
I’ve had the opportunity to meet with some of the sector’s leading women to bring a rounded perspective to my own thinking on women’s progression into leadership in the voluntary sector. Every minute of these meetings has been eye-opening, humbling and inspiring. I look forward to capturing the experiences of a diversity of women in the research piece I am planning to deliver as part of the Programme.
I am mentored by a fabulous leading light of the fundraising world, and I’m looking to begin mentoring others. And I’m blogging. Making my opinions public has proved to be an incredible way of seeking input from people across the sector, generating debate and shaping my own thinking.
But the greatest resource to date has been the cohort itself: a group of very different people, with different backgrounds and aspirations for the future, with a shared passion for the sector and the values that our sector embodies.
