Clore Social Games: Work - Play - Lead
Owen Jarvis and Sinem Cakir are co-curating a ‘Clore Social Leadership Games’ for all Fellows in summer 2014.
Taking place on the weekend of 26/27 July 2014, it will explore the roles of play and games in shaping social change.
Read Owen's blog on the importance of using play and games.
"We will offer participants a wide range of games in different formats – they will be enjoyable, thought-provoking and raise discussions with leaders for how we can use them to bring about social change. Some games will involve movement, some online, others board games – we may even invent some from scratch. Note: You don’t need to be sporty to take part!
We will find a great venue offering indoor and outdoor activities, participants will bring along picnics to share and enjoy together and there will be a chance to meet and connect with Clore Social Fellows from various years."
Owen and Sinem will be hosting the day, and extend a warm invitation to all Fellows who would like come along.
If you’re a Fellow, and if this captures your imagination and you would like to help co-curate the event, please get in touch.
You can get involved and let them know via twitter, email, and add ideas to the padlet (see below). It promises to be an engaging, fun and thought provoking summers day!

Over the next few weeks and months, please feel free to add your thoughts, links, websites, recommendations, venues, play-spaces, inspirations to the Clore Social Games Padlet wall at the link above.
You’ll next hear from us
In March, we plan to release a second blog, bringing together the suggestions offered up to the Padlet wall and to make an open invite to a design evening in March or April (date to be confirmed, venue in London) to begin to put some finer details in place.
Save the Date (provisional)
Saturday 26th or Sunday 27th July 2014, (the day will probably run from 11am - 4pm).
We suggest places will be limited to a manageable maximum of 30 places and there will need to be a small £10 (tbc) charge to cover venue and expenses. We hope that the venue (and its picturesque setting) will demand a summer picnic, so the theme will be bring your own or some to share!
When can you start tweeting about it?
We plan to start building up momentum and creativity using a specific twitter hashtag nearer the event in late Spring. We’ll let you know more about that later on.
