Yaseer has been in the role of General Manager of the British Muslim Heritage Centre in Manchester since September 2013. He has been a Non-Executive Director at the Royal Bolton NHS Foundation Trust for nearly 8 years. He was, until 2011, Chief Officer at the Bolton Council of Mosques, a charity which represents over 30,000 Muslims through 22 Mosques. The Bolton Council of Mosques works with the public, private and social sector, as well as people of different faiths and none, to help develop a better society for the diverse population of Bolton and indeed the UK. Yaseer has been a Vice Chair and Director at Bolton CVS and was Chair of the Strategic Race Independent Advisory Group to the Greater Manchester Police Authority. He has also Chaired an award winning group called GEMS (Getting Ethnic Minorities into Sport), is a Governor at the local primary school and volunteers on a number of local and national initiatives.
Yaseer was a Commissioner at the Commission for Racial Equality (CRE) between 2006/07, and a Commissioner with the Councillors Commission set up to investigate the barriers and incentives to people becoming Councillors.
At the age of 18, Yaseer was awarded the Bolton Special Achievement Award as a Young Entrepreneur and at 21 the Ethnic Minority Business of the year 2001. Other Awards include the Bolton Black and Asian Achievement Award in 2005, Brit-Asian News Award for Community Work in 2006 and in 2007 the Muslim News Award for community work related to Sport.
Yaseer has a background in Microbiology and Biochemistry, a post-graduate qualification in Adult Education and is a qualified Youth Worker. His interests lie in developing shared values, collaborative working, emotional wellbeing, and in developing future leaders.
