Launching 'Leading Beyond Lockdown'

“I have committed myself to being an authentic leader who focuses on strengths and is always keen to learn from others. I would love to continue to learn by taking part in the Leading Beyond Lockdown programme. And particularly would be honoured to join the Clore Social Fellows and benefit from becoming part of a network of peers with similar views and aspirations. In addition, the work of all the organisations in the Clore Social network are renowned for excellence in the sector and I would love to gain greater insight and knowledge through participation in such a well known programme.” - Leading Beyond Lockdown participant

We are delighted to announce the launch of Leading Beyond Lockdown our online skills and development programme designed for people whose work has been affected by COVID-19 and would benefit from tailored support. This included those who have been furloughed, have had to work reduced hours, have taken on more responsibility or are expecting to face challenging decisions.

The programme will prepare them to lead beyond lockdown with confidence, skill, and a network of peers to support you along the way.

“There are so many challenges ahead… and I feel I need to be in better form to lead a way through these and to do that I need to be a better leader and also look after myself better. I hope this programme will equip me with tools but also the space I need to start doing that. I need to learn to look after myself better.” - Leading Beyond Lockdown participant

The programmes we have offered during lockdown have received an overwhelming number of applications, and Leading Beyond Lockdown was no exception. This clearly demonstrates a great need for support and development in the social sector.

Clore Social invested significantly into this programme, covering 90% of the costs to make it affordable to as many as possible - from small organisations to self-funded individuals from diverse demographics.

“[Where I live] offers extremely limited opportunities for professional development and collaborative learning, more so since the pandemic. This is an accessible programme without prohibitive logistical and cost barriers… Fresh insights, strategies and learning to increase success in the face of challenges, which may be commonly experienced, would be very welcomed support.” - Leading Beyond Lockdown participant

“I think that Leading Beyond Lockdown has the potential to connect me to many other people who are operating in unconventional modes, working on bringing people together from different backgrounds. I also think that the tools which are offered in the programme will help me to develop and define my role further.” - Leading Beyond Lockdown participant

Writing about what has motivated them to apply for this programme, other participants have said:

“I want to develop my confidence in being a strong voice both locally and nationally for both my organisation and for the individuals we support, to challenge the process and structures that we see are not working and calling for systems change at this unique point in time.”

“Senior leadership can sometimes be a lonely experience within an organisation, and I am keen to build relationships at a similar level within the sector to counter this.”
