We're hiring an Engagement Intern!

We are recruiting an Engagement Intern for our new National Development Unit! We are currently in the process of establishing a new National Development Unit (NDU) to promote and grow social leadership. The Unit’s objectives will be to;

● understand the development needs of social leaders,

● demonstrate the benefits, and

● encourage the development of generous, effective and ethical leadership

The new Unit will build strong partnerships, create leadership networks, provide insights into social leadership, harness the power of our alumni, showcase ethical leadership and support innovation in the field. The new Unit will sit alongside our Programme Delivery Team.

The role

We are seeking an intern to carry out a wide variety of tasks designed to ensure the smooth running of our small but dynamic new NDU team. They will support the administrative tasks involved in delivering tailored, meaningful and timely engagement with social leaders in our growing community. The intern will work closely with the NDU team, as well as other members of the wider Clore Social staff team. We are seeking someone who is able to be adaptable and flexible in their work. The NDU as a new unit will need to be adaptable and responsive and requires a team comfortable with ambiguity.

You’ll meet Clore Social Fellows from all sectors and you will develop a good understanding of what it means to be a ‘social leader’. You’ll also work as part of a small but committed team.

Example of Key Responsibilities:

Engagement Support

  • Work with NDU team and wider Clore Social team to support the roadmap for the NDU in line with the mission to “reach a million leaders”
  • Support the analysis of historical data that will deliver the insights to inform the development of the NDU strategy
  • Help to define and deliver a programme of testing and user research to test different community engagement models for the NDU
  • Work with the NDU team to develop digital and analogue systems and processes that enable the testing of community engagement models for the NDU

NDU overall Team Support

  • Provide proactive support, such as;
  • Collecting, monitoring and evaluating data
  • Supporting the delivery of online engagement methods, including uploading content and engaging with the Clore Social community
  • Taking minutes in meetings and ensuring they are circulated in a timely manner
  • Escalating important information and enquiries to the appropriate senior staff member
  • Creating and managing a schedule of events and other community meetings

Project Management

  • Take a lead on one or more specific projects according to the need of the organisation and interest of the appointed intern

Reporting relationships

You will report directly to the Director of Engagement and also work closely with the other members of the NDU. From time to time you may be asked to carry out tasks on behalf of other Clore Social team members, as a small team the focus is on achieving our objectives and not adhering to our job descriptions.

Hours and place of work

The post is for five full days each week, normally within office hours (9.30am to 5.30pm), amounting to 35 hours per week. Some flexibility is necessary as you may need to attend evening events and/or nights away at local Chapter events.

The internship is expected to last for 6 months, starting in August/September 2019.

The office is based at CAN Mezzanine, 49-51 East Road, London N1 6AH.

Pay and benefits

This role will be paid £20,000/year and is entitled to 25 working days holiday each year (pro rata) in addition to statutory holidays.
